⚡ Static Electricity

Charge
Rub the balloon back and forth on the sweater to charge it with static!

⚡ Static Electricity Experiment

Everything is made of tiny atoms.

Inside atoms there are positive charges (protons) and negative charges (electrons).

Normally they balance each other out.

But when you rub a balloon on a sweater, electrons jump from the sweater onto the balloon!

Now the balloon is charged with static electricity and can pick up paper, make hair stand up!

That little zap you feel touching a doorknob in winter? That's static too!
